Originally called “slow spring back foam”, memory foam was invented by NASA in the 1960’s to improve the quality of their airline seats. The ability to evenly distribute weight and pressure, guarantees comfort and unusually high energy absorption, while remaining soft and pliable.
Combining these features with our Ultra Soft technology by fusing, results in this uber soft and spongy leather, that when touched, sinks in softly and then slowly recovers to its original shape and form.
The dense foam structure of the Memory foam makes it easy to mold to the body in response to heat and pressure, and the high energy absorption makes the leather perfect for outdoor shoes and garments.
We offer this leather in a variety of surface finishes and thicknesses, defining the look and the feel. These all differ in pressure retention and shape recovery. Above you see a soft velvety nubuck version and a smooth firmer fullgrain version.
As illustrated on the graph, we have different levels of firmness and softness in the collection.
Memory is the most versatile version that is neither too firm nor too soft.
Extra memory is the most spongy and thick version, and it invites a rethinking of set standards and encourages the creation of new product ideas.
