EL3 collaborates with L’Art de l’Automobile’s Arthur Karakoumouchian on bespoke leather for a custom Porsche interior
To raise their art of automobile dressing even further, Arthur Karakoumouchian and his platform L’Art de l’Automobile have worked with ECCO Leather’s EL3 platform, to create two custom leathers for the interior of The Porsche 968 L’ART which is the 30th anniversary version of the Porsche 968.
The leathers include a thick, soft calfskin with a matt black finish, and a green satin-sheen calfskin topped with a one-of-a-kind hand-airbrushed pattern. Both are made sustainably using ECCO Leather’s own Dri-TanTM technique, which radically reduces water usage.
To create the leathers, Karakoumouchian embarked on an immersive journey with the EL3 team of designers and leather technicians working around the clock. Karakoumouchian starting inspiration for this work was a vintage automotive interior graphic with iconic airbrush visuality.
The process was long, interesting, beautiful, and always meaningful. Starting from conception, the EL3 team has consulted on tone, shine, touch and feel of the leather. As well as designing the one-of-a-kind stencil artwork introducing the color L’ART green pearl.
